Walks for November 2008

Pool of Light Walks, November 2008

I led a series of 8 walks in November 2008 of behalf of the "Pool of Light" project.

8 of the best international lighting designers installed 7 light installations (5 in Liverpool, 2 in Birkenhead), following on from a lighting workshop and conference hosted in Liverpool at the end of October. ( Click here to read article from the Daily Post.)

Members of the public were able to visit the installations by themselves but I also lead guided walks around the 5 Liverpool installations. As well as talking about the installations themselves, I talked about the history and cultures of the area we passed through - namely the Baltic warehouse area, Chinatown and around the Anglican Cathedral and into St James Park. We had the opportunity to view the newly opened Novas Contemporary Urban Centre (a remarkable arts centre housed in a former C19 warehouse) and the opportunity to see these areas from a different perspective, namely after dark.

The walks were a great success with nearly every evening sold out well in advance.

More details of the event may be found on the Pool of Light website
