We have a rare chance to visit the former Royal Infirmary, which dates from the late nineteenth century and was designed by Alfred Waterhouse (architect of Victoria Building, North Western Hotel, Prudential Assurance Building, London's Natural History Museum, Manchester Town Hall) with input from Florence Nightingale. The interior of this building has recently been used by the BBC to film "Casualty 1906" and "Casualty 1907" and also for some scenes in "Lilies". It contains a beautiful tiled chapel (the waiting area in "Casualty 1906")! and the original circular wards.
This walk lasts approx.120 minutes plus time spent on the guided tour in the former Infirmary. Some steps in the Infirmary.
