"Knotty Ash walk"

A guided walk around the historic village of Knotty Ash, home to the legendary Jam Butty mines and Diddymen!

Knotty Ash, named after an old ash tree which once stood there, was originally a small country village on the bridleway to Prescot and when this was later turned into a coaching road, it was also on the route to Manchester and London. Knotty Ash was a busy toll point and coaching inns, such as the “Turk’s Head,” sprung up to accommodate travellers and the village prospered.

Also: a forgotten Liverpool brewery with a row of C19 workers' cottages, a connection to "The Titanic," a disused Cheshire Lines railway station that once saw 1000s of US troops disembark, a memorial to Nelson not considered grand enough for Exchange Flags and a venue where the Beatles played in their early days.
